Carl Edwards races in Atlanta (AMS) with a broken foot!

After taking his first road-course win in one of NASCAR's top three divisions last week in Montreal, Carl Edwards was injured in a fluke accident. This however was not a normal accident one may imagine for a NASCAR driver. His injury was sustained during a FRISBEE game with friends a few days AFTER the big victory. He showed up to the Nationwide race at AMS this past Saturday on crutches with a broken foot. He was able to maintain a positive attitude and plenty of optimism despite the possible challenges he faced ahead. Despite the fact that the placement of the pedal was adjusted to assist him, he did acknowledge that the harder he pushed the more pain he endured. He had back up drivers standing by for both the Nationwide and Cup races but said he he planned to run all laps unless he became physically incapable. He in turn completed the races and came in 7th in Nationwide, one lap down. Not to shabby... Needless to say... Carl Edwards acknowledged he will need at least eight weeks to fully heal and we will not be seeing any back flips for probably about 6-8 months!
